AmsterDans 2021 will take place on the 1st and 2nd of May
AmsterDans 2020 postponed because of the Corona Virus:
Although the Dutch Government has not yet ordered or suggested cancellation of any events in The Netherlands, the AmsterDans organization finds it a priority to protect the health of the participants and maintain the spirit of the competition in a tranquil atmosphere. Considering the fact that the amount of Corona virus cases in The Netherlands have risen greatly in the past few days, and that there is possibility that a quarantine for travelers coming here could soon be implemented, we feel that it is not wise to hold the competition on the 20th, 21st & 22nd of March as planned.
We would like to postpone it to another moment, and will let you know after the weekend what the alternative dates could be.
As written in the Rules and Regulations, registration and masterclasses fees will be refunded.
We are very sorry about this situation and trust that you understand our decision.
The Directors of AmsterDans
AmsterDans is the first international dance competition in the Netherlands in the genres of ballet and contemporary dance. AmsterDans provides an opportunity to dance schools, dance teachers, young choreographers, and young dancers to come together in an atmosphere of friendly competition in order to learn from and inspire each other. While the competition is the most prominent event, the masterclasses and the opportunity to meet other dancers from all over the world make the whole experience a very enriching one. The competition itself has a number of categories including solos, duets, and group works, and the genres are ballet, contemporary, modern, and choreography.
The first edition of AmsterDans took place in 2016. The founders had recognized the need for an international event in the Netherlands that offered the benefits of a well-run competition and decided to establish AmsterDans. The idea was to create a platform for dancers and dance schools wishing to excel and show their talents, and to create opportunities for dancers, teachers and choreographers to meet and compare their work. AmsterDans became a yearly event and with each edition the competition has gained more participants from more countries, as well as an increasing number of prominent sponsors who offer scholarships, choreographic opportunities and other important prizes that can be won.
The directors – Savina Marasi, Fabio Franchini, Gary Feingold & Gaia Lemmi – are happy to welcome to you this 5th Edition of AmsterDans.
