About AmsterDans
In the vibrant international city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands (Western Europe), you'll find our prominent dance competition; in genres ballet and contemporary modern dance. Offering significant international and national scholarships sets this competition apart from others.
AmsterDans provides an opportunity to dance schools, dance teachers, aspiring choreographers, and talented dancers to come together in an atmosphere of friendly competition in order to learn from and inspire each other. While the competition is the central event, the masterclasses and the opportunity to meet other dancers from all over the world enrich the experience.
History
AmsterDans was founded in 2016, which is when the 1st edition took place. The founders (Savina Marasi & Gary Feingold, Fabio Franchini & Gaia Lemmi) recognized the need for an international dance event in the Netherlands that offered the benefits of a well-run competition. The idea was to create a platform for dancers and dance schools wishing to excel and show their talents, and to create opportunities for dancers, teachers and choreographers to meet and compare their work. AmsterDans became an annual event. With each edition, the competition increased in number of participants from many countries. AmsterDans offers scholarships, traineeships, choreographic opportunities and other important prizes from prominent dance institutions. Since 2023, AmsterDans has continued under the direction of Savina Marasi, Gary Feingold and assistant director Zahira Mous. The 7th edition will take place on May 18-19, 2024 at Podium Mozaïek in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
